Dishwasher Repairin Dallas, TX
We repair built-in and drawer dishwashers in Dallas homes: drain problems, leaks, poor cleaning, and cycles that stop partway through.
Common dishwasher problems we fix
1. Water left standing after the cycle
- Usual causes
- A clogged filter at the bottom of the tub, a kinked drain hose, or a failing drain pump. If a garbage disposal was just installed, its knockout plug may still be in place.
- What we check
- The filter and sump, the drain hose route, the disposal connection and the drain pump.
2. Leaking onto the floor
- Usual causes
- A worn door gasket, a spray arm pushing water past the door, a loose inlet or drain connection, a pump seal, or too much or the wrong kind of detergent making suds.
- What we check
- The door seal, spray arms, every connection under the unit, and the pump.
3. Dishes come out dirty, gritty or cloudy
- Usual causes
- Clogged filter or spray arms, hard-water scale, water that isn't hot enough at the start, or a weak wash pump.
- What we check
- Spray arm flow, the filter, inlet water temperature and the wash pump.
4. It won't start, or stops partway
- Usual causes
- A worn door latch switch, a float switch stuck up, a control lock, a thermal fuse or the control board.
- What we check
- The latch, the float switch, the fuse and the control.
5. It won't fill, or just hums
- Usual causes
- A closed water supply valve under the sink, a failed water inlet valve, or a float switch stuck in the full position.
- What we check
- The supply, the inlet valve and the float.
6. A bad smell from the tub
- Usual causes
- Food trapped in the filter or sump, a drain hose without a high loop that lets sink water flow back in, or a garbage disposal that drains back into the dishwasher.
- What we check
- The filter and sump, the drain hose loop or air gap, and the disposal connection.
7. Dishes don't dry
- Usual causes
- An empty rinse aid dispenser, a failed heating element, or a vent or fan that has stopped.
- What we check
- The heating element, the vent or fan, and the rinse aid setting.
Safe things to check first
- Twist out the filter at the bottom of the tub and rinse it under the tap. A clogged filter causes many drain and cleaning problems.
- Run the kitchen tap until the water is hot before you start a cycle.
- Check that the control lock isn't on and that the door closes with a firm click.
If none of these fix it, call us before taking anything apart.
Types we work on
- Built-in front-control and top-control
- Panel-ready (integrated) models
- Drawer dishwashers

Repair or replace?
Pumps, valves, latches, float switches and heating elements are common repairs.
A leak from a rusted-through tub usually means it's time for a new dishwasher. A panel-ready model is often worth repairing, because the custom panel has to be refitted to any replacement.
Dishwasher repair questions
Is a little water in the bottom normal?
Some dishwashers keep a small amount in the sump under the filter. Water pooled above the filter after a full cycle is not normal.
I just installed a garbage disposal and now the dishwasher won't drain. Why?
New disposals come with a plug in the dishwasher inlet that has to be knocked out during installation. If it's still there, water can't leave.
Why are my glasses cloudy?
Usually hard-water film, which rinse aid and a cleaning cycle can help with. Etching, a cloudiness that won't wash off, is damage to the glass itself.
Do you repair drawer dishwashers?
Yes, along with built-in and panel-ready models.
