Washer & Dryer Repairin Dallas, TX
We repair top-load and front-load washers, stacked laundry units, and gas and electric dryers in Dallas homes.
Safety first: Lint is a fire risk: clean the dryer's lint screen after every load. If you smell gas near a gas dryer, leave the house and call your gas utility or 911 from outside.
Common washer & dryer problems we fix
1. The washer won't drain or spin
- Usual causes
- A clogged drain pump filter on front-loaders, a kinked drain hose, a failed drain pump, or a lid switch or door lock that won't confirm the door is shut. An unbalanced load can also stop the spin.
- What we check
- The pump filter, the hose, the pump, and the lid switch or door lock.
2. The washer leaks
- Usual causes
- A torn door boot seal on a front-loader, a worn fill or drain hose, a pump leak, or too much detergent making suds.
- What we check
- The door boot, hoses, pump and inlet connections.
3. Banging, shaking or walking across the floor
- Usual causes
- An unbalanced load, a washer that isn't level, worn suspension rods or shock absorbers, or failing drum bearings.
- What we check
- Leveling, the suspension, and the drum bearings.
4. The dryer runs but doesn't heat
- Usual causes
- Electric dryers: a failed heating element, thermal fuse or thermostat. Gas dryers: the igniter, the gas valve coils or the flame sensor. A clogged vent often makes the thermal fuse blow.
- What we check
- The heat circuit for your dryer type and the airflow through the vent.
5. Clothes take two cycles to dry
- Usual causes
- A restricted vent duct, a clogged lint screen or a failed moisture sensor.
- What we check
- Airflow at the outside vent, the lint path and the sensor.
6. Squealing, thumping or grinding from the dryer
- Usual causes
- Worn drum rollers, an idler pulley or a belt.
- What we check
- The rollers, the pulley, the belt and the drum bearing.
Safe things to check first
- Clean the dryer's lint screen, then check outside that the vent flap opens and air blows out strongly while it runs.
- On a front-load washer, drain the small pump filter behind the lower front panel. Keep towels and a shallow pan ready.
- Electric dryers use a double breaker. Check that it hasn't tripped.
If none of these fix it, call us before taking anything apart.

Repair or replace?
Belts, pumps, switches, door locks, rollers and heating parts are common, reasonable repairs.
Drum bearings on a front-loader take the machine apart and can cost close to a new washer, so for an older unit it's worth comparing. We'll tell you what failed so you can decide.
Washer & dryer repair questions
Why does my dryer take two cycles to dry a load?
A clogged vent duct is the most common cause. Less air moving means more time, more heat, and a higher chance of blowing the thermal fuse.
Why does my front-load washer smell?
Moisture and detergent residue in the door seal and drain filter. Wipe the seal, clean the pump filter, and leave the door open between loads.
Can a clogged vent damage my dryer?
Yes. Trapped heat wears out heating parts and thermostats and can blow the thermal fuse. It is also a fire risk.
Do you repair stacked washer-dryer units?
Yes, along with separate washers and dryers.
